History
Volunteer International Community Development Africa (VICDA) is non profit organization that was established by a local Kenyan lady about 6 years ago in Kenya, for the purpose of assisting needy Kenyans. It was realized that due to increase of poverty in Kenya there is so much help needed within the Kenyan community to improve the socio-economic development of the country through international volunteers in various development projects, while on their holiday. As the volunteer program grew and our relationship grew strong within the community VICDA discovered a lot of needs than expected and from there VICDA got fully involved in community development work. The idea hence came up in Nairobi through a lady identified as ‘Irene Wairimu Ngatia’. VICDA is established as a Non governmental organization with the aim of raising funds for community development, as a non-profit organization through volunteerism. The main area of focus includes street children rehabilitation, drilling of wells, HIV/AIDS, medical/health, teaching and community development, child education sponsorship and internally displaced Persons programs such as building houses, classes for the early childhood education, microfinance and feeding programs to enable them to rebuild their lives.
VICDA solicit for funds from donors among the local and international community, through such means like publications, meetings, public relations and media activities spearheaded by individual committees within the organization. VICDA will involve donors, volunteers, board members and employees regardless of race, creed, color, gender, or physical disability.
